Innovative Programming

We granted 50 North Dakota teachers hydroponic growing towers to grow produce in their classrooms.

Major Program Impacts or Outcomes

Through our Farm to School program, we have utilized AITC programming and introduced more school garden, hydroponic learning into classrooms across the state. Introducing students K-12 on how to grow their own food for school lunches.

NDDA has focused on teaching students about ND specialty crops by creating honey tasting kits and garden in the glove kits.

13,000 students received the ND Ag Mag publication 3 times during the school year.

The department funded 8 AITC projects through grants to other organizations totaling $100,000 that increased Ag literacy for North Dakota students.

6,000 students were exposed to Ag Literacy through our 5 Living Ag Classrooms around the state where students attend a field trip and learn about ND agriculture through our department and several commodity groups.
