Classroom Resources

Developed a unit on Horses and presented it at the 2015 NAITC Conference.Revised all of our Educational Brochures in 2014 and had them available for distribution at the annual conference. The Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab revised/updated the following lessons we currently offer to Pre-K through 5th grade students: Colorful Bean - Revised lesson procedures, updated soybean uses info, obtained newest booklet "Max the Sprout" as classroom extension; Clean Sweep - Updated nutritional labels, revised lesson materials; Snack Attack - Updated nutritional labels, food items, lesson procedure sheets; Glue from Milk - Revised lesson materials; Wheat Germ DNA - Revised lesson procedure sheet; Groundhog's Garden - Revised student lesson sheet; Take Me Out to the Cornfield - Revised student lesson sheet; Tops and Bottoms - Revised student lesson sheet.

Major Program Accomplishments or Outputs

We held a two day Summer Agriculture Institute in 2015 with 45 teachers attending. The Mobile lab visited 33 schools throughout the year.

Major Program Impacts or Outcomes

92% of teachers inserviced in 2015 said that they planned to use at least one of the activites they learned at the Summer Ag Insistute.

100% of teachers inserviced would recommend our program to their friends and other teachers.

75% of schools ask for the Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab to revisit their schools in the future.

At least 50% of the students add to or gain knowledge of Agriculture after their visit in the Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab.


For Mary Beth Bennett - I have my AA, BS, MS and Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State university. I spent 2 years in Brazil with the Peace Corps between my AA and BS and 4 years in Africa between my BS and MS. I have been a County Agricultural Agent for the last 20 years and developed the West Virginia Ag in the Classroom Program by holding a Summer Agriculture Institute each year to train teachers.

For Michelle Bailey – My AA and BS is from Fairmont State University. I have spent the past 18 years teaching in an Early Childhood classroom. I joined the West Virginia Farm Bureau staff in 2015 as coordinator for the Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab.
